The Clam Tostada originated in 2001 amid the rural urbanity of Barrio Sin Nombre near downtown Tucson. It’s hard to say exactly what The Clam Tostada may sound like on any given night, but one thing is certain: a listener will be enveloped in funky basslines, eclectic rhythms, tasty melodies and cheeky lyrics. As for genre, what’s that? It’s hard to pinpoint, but the Clam is a mishmash and might be best described by the newly coined phrase, “rock-funk-bluesy-twangy-folky-hip-hop-wah-chicka-wah-wah.” It may be acoustic; it may be electric; it may be both. Inviting friends up to jam has become somewhat of a Clam tradition.
